WAVELAND, Miss. (BuzzReport) – An investigation is underway in Waveland following the discovery of a body in the water near the Garfield Ladner Pier on Monday evening, though early indications from security footage strongly suggest the death is not the result of a criminal act.

Emergency services were alerted around 5:15 p.m. after a group of men fishing from rocks near the pier spotted the individual in the water. Police and rescue personnel swiftly responded to the scene to recover the body and commence initial investigative procedures.

Crucially, security camera footage from the nearby lighthouse captured the man entering the water approximately an hour prior to his discovery. The visuals clearly show the individual walking into the water without any observable signs of distress or struggle, a detail that profoundly shapes the initial understanding of the event.
