Chesapeake, VA (BuzzReport) – The family of Torreon Williams, 24, has filed a lawsuit against Snellings Funeral Home in Chesapeake, Virginia, and its parent company, Hollomon-Brown Funeral Homes, alleging gross negligence in the handling of Williams’ body. The lawsuit claims that during an open viewing in May 2022, the family discovered maggots in Williams’ casket, causing them severe emotional distress. According to the lawsuit, Williams’ face was covered with maggots crawling out of his nose and mouth during the viewing, which followed his death in a car crash. The family alleges that the funeral home failed to properly prepare and care for Williams’ body, resulting in the presence of maggots. The lawsuit claims that the family experienced significant trauma, including depression, anxiety, and night terrors, as a result of the incident. They are seeking $5 million in damages. In response to the allegations, Hollomon-Brown CEO Casey Jones offered condolences to the family but declined to comment further due to ongoing litigation. The case is scheduled to be heard in Chesapeake Circuit Court on July 28.
