Matt Frazier Calls for Transparency and Reform in Mobile City Council District 6 Race

MOBILE, AL (BuzzReport) – As the Mobile municipal elections heat up, candidate Matt Frazier, vying for a seat on the Mobile City Council in district 6, recently outlined his platform and vision for the city in an interview with the Buzz Report. Frazier emphasized a strong desire to reform the Council’s operations, citing a need for greater transparency and accountability.

Drawing on 27 years of construction experience, Frazier believes he brings a practical, problem-solving approach to city governance. He stated his motivation for entering the race stems from a “strong desire to make changes in our City Council and how the current representation does business.” He feels his background in “troubleshooting and prioritizing problems to find solutions in a timely manner” is directly applicable to addressing city challenges.

Frazier’s top priorities for the city include bolstering public safety and reducing crime, improving drainage infrastructure, and ensuring transparency and accountability with citizens. To address crime and violence, he plans to “implement more police presence,” noting current police and traffic enforcement efficiency levels (cited at approximately 75% and 50% respectively).

He also voiced concerns about current City Council meeting procedures. Frazier specifically pointed out the standard 10:30 am Tuesday meeting time, calling it inconvenient for the majority of working citizens. Furthermore, he raised concerns about the Council’s discretionary power to deny speaking requests from citizens, noting the lack of accountability in this process.

Regarding growth and development, Frazier advocates for focusing on securing the existing infrastructure before expanding. He believes firmly in building “a strong base and infrastructure for our City” and highlighted drainage as a critical area that needs attention before further development occurs.

When discussing the city budget, Frazier believes funding should be redirected and allocated strategically, prioritizing “Drainage infrastructure, Police, and Fire Rescue first and foremost.”

He outlined his approach to addressing major issues like blight, aging infrastructure, and taxes. For blight, he would assess the danger of structures and vote for demolition if they pose a public risk. On aging infrastructure, he reiterated the critical importance of addressing drainage first to protect other infrastructure from washing away. For taxes, he would focus on assessing the budget and providing greater transparency to the district on tax revenue collected and how funds are utilized.

Concluding his interview, Frazier offered a personal statement on his campaign: “I am Matt Frazier, I stand for Truth and Transparency for our citizens. I am not a ‘Politician’. I believe in God, our rights, and the American way.” He added, “Old Mobile politics have been exactly that, (‘Old’) for too long, I believe it is time for a new and fresh vision. I believe I can bring that new and fresh vision to our City.”
