CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Protesters and activists took to the streets of Chattanooga on Saturday evening to voice their concerns about potential U.S. involvement in a war with Iran. The demonstration coincided with reports that President Trump had authorized U.S. airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities, though those strikes were ultimately called off.

The protesters gathered near Martin Luther King Boulevard, chanting slogans such as “Trump! Trump! You can’t hide! We charge you with genocide!” echoing sentiments shared in similar protests held across the nation.

Organizer Noah Abbas explained that the driving force behind the protest was a belief that the cost of war, both in terms of human lives and economic resources, is far too high.

“There’s a lot of other things that we could be doing as a society, as our government could be doing to unite people, take care of people,” Abbas stated.

The Chattanooga demonstration was part of a larger, nationwide movement urging the Trump administration to refrain from military intervention in the ongoing conflict involving Iran and Israel. Protesters across the country are warning that U.S. involvement could escalate the situation into a devastating regional conflict with potentially catastrophic consequences.
