Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) – A tragic boating accident on the Mobile River has resulted in the death of a Wilmer woman and injuries to two others, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA). The incident occurred on Sunday, June 15th, around 5:50 p.m.

ALEA officials confirmed that 27-year-old Brittney Sherman of Wilmer, Alabama, lost her life when the boat she was a passenger in collided with another vessel. Ms. Sherman’s body was recovered on Monday, June 16th, just before 11 a.m., approximately 100 yards from where she entered the water following the collision.

Also aboard the boat involved in the crash was Brittney Sherman’s husband, 30-year-old Cody Sherman, and a 4-year-old child. Both Cody Sherman and the child sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Their current condition is unknown at this time.

The boat carrying the Sherman family was being operated by a 19-year-old man from Lucedale. The other boat was being operated by a 52-year-old man, also from Wilmer. Authorities have stated that neither the 19-year-old operator nor the 52-year-old operator of the other boat sustained any injuries in the collision.

ALEA is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the boat crash to determine the cause. Further details will be released as they become available.
