Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) – C.J. Small, President of the Mobile City Council and current representative for District 3, has officially announced his candidacy for re-election. Small, a seasoned politician with 12 and a half years of experience on the council, is highlighting a track record of completed projects and a vision for continued growth in the district.

In a news release issued by his campaign, Small emphasized his commitment to improving the quality of life for District 3 residents and fostering its economic development. He pointed to several key achievements during his tenure, including:

  • Infrastructure Improvements: The rebuilding of Baltimore and Ann Street, significantly improving traffic flow and pedestrian safety.
  • Park Enhancements: The addition of walking trails, splash pads, playground equipment, fields, and lighting to numerous parks within District 3, creating vibrant recreational spaces for families.
  • Housing Replenishment: The successful replenishment of 700 housing units in the Oakdale and Maysville communities, providing affordable and quality living options.

Looking ahead, Small outlined several upcoming projects that he believes will further transform District 3:

  • Taylor Park Community Center Rebuilding: A complete overhaul of the Taylor Park Community Center, promising a modern and functional space for community activities.
  • South Brookley School Redevelopment: The demolition of the South Brookley School to make way for a new community center serving the DIP and surrounding neighborhoods.
  • Brookley Complex Expansion: The highly anticipated opening of the airport at Brookley Complex, poised to bring new jobs and economic opportunities to the region.
  • Zyback Property Development: The opening of the Zyback Property, the specific purpose of which was not detailed in the release, but is expected to contribute to the district’s growth.

“District 3 has become an economic force in the City of Mobile,” Small stated. “I am excited to continue representing and working with the citizens of District 3 during this period of transformation and economic growth. I will continue to work hard to improve our quality of life and make our District the best place to live, work, and play.”

Mobile residents will head to the polls on August 26th to participate in the municipal election, which will determine the city’s next Mayor and City Council members. Small’s bid for re-election promises a continuation of his current policies and a commitment to the ongoing development of District 3. His campaign is expected to focus on his proven track record and his vision for a thriving and vibrant community.
