Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) – A former police officer from Bayou La Batre, William “BJ” Squires, has been released from jail after a judge denied a motion to revoke his bond. Squires had been indicted on charges of rape and sexual abuse of a 14-year-old girl.

Squires was taken into custody in February for criminal trespassing, prompting the district attorney’s office to seek revocation of his bond on the sex charges. However, Judge Michael Windom ruled on May 8 that there was no probable cause for the trespassing charge, leading to the denial of the motion.

As a result, Squires was released on his original bond shortly before 5 p.m. on May 8. He had been held in jail since February. Squires initially faced arrest in November on the rape and sexual abuse charges.
