Carjacking Reported After Driver Gives Unknown Man A Ride In Mobile

Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A offered ride reportedly turned into a vehicle theft Sunday afternoon after a man told police that a passenger he had picked up drove away with his vehicle in the area of Race Track Lane and Bay Avenue.

According to police, officers responded to the reported carjacking at approximately 11:55 a.m. on Sunday, September 27, 2026.

Investigators determined that the victim had given an unknown male a ride from the 900 block of Broad Street a short time before the incident.

The ride continued until the two reached the area of Race Track Lane and Bay Avenue. Police say the victim exited the vehicle, at which point the unidentified passenger allegedly took control of the vehicle and drove away.

Police have not released additional information about the stolen vehicle or the identity of the suspect at this time.

The investigation remains active, and authorities are working to determine the suspect’s identity and locate the vehicle.
