MOBILE, Ala. (BuzzReport) — A 30-year-old Mobile man has been arrested on multiple child pornography charges following an investigation that began with a cyber tip received by a national organization, according to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies arrested Donovan Keeling on Tuesday after investigators with the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Unit identified him as part of an investigation stemming from a CyberTip submitted by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). According to authorities, investigators followed up on information provided through the national reporting system and developed information that ultimately led them to Keeling. Members of the sheriff’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, assisted by the agency’s Special Operations Unit, executed a search warrant Tuesday at Keeling’s residence located off Bay Shore Avenue in Mobile County. Authorities said Keeling was taken into custody at the residence without further incident. He was subsequently transported to the Mobile County Metro Jail, where jail records show he was booked at approximately 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. Keeling faces three counts of unlawful possession of child pornography, according to the sheriff’s office. The investigation highlights the role of CyberTips in helping law enforcement agencies identify suspected online exploitation and the possession or distribution of illegal material involving children. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children operates a national reporting system that allows information concerning suspected child exploitation to be forwarded to law enforcement for investigation. The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office has not released additional details about the specific material allegedly recovered, how investigators initially connected Keeling to the CyberTip, or whether additional charges or arrests could follow. The case remains under investigation. As with all criminal cases, Keeling is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
