Man Robbed at Gunpoint During Facebook Marketplace Phone Sale in Mobile

MOBILE, AL. (BuzzReport) — A attempt to sell a cellphone through Facebook Marketplace turned into an armed robbery Monday evening after a man was allegedly robbed at gunpoint outside a Mobile bank.

According to the Mobile Police Department, officers responded to Regions Bank at 5202 Cottage Hill Road at approximately 5:48 p.m. Monday, August 17, 2026, following a report of a robbery.

When officers arrived, they learned that a male victim had reportedly arranged to meet someone to sell a phone through Facebook Marketplace. What was supposed to be a simple transaction quickly turned dangerous when the victim was allegedly confronted by an armed individual.

Police said the victim was robbed at gunpoint during the attempted sale.
