MOBILE, Ala. (BuzzReport) — A 31-year-old Mobile man has been arrested following an investigation into an assault that left another man suffering from minor lacerations earlier this month.

Authorities say the subject was identified and located Friday, August 14, 2026. Frederick Coleman, 31, was taken into custody and transported to Metro Jail in connection with the incident.

The investigation began late Wednesday night, August 5, when Mobile police officers responded at approximately 11:30 p.m. to the 1900 block of Luckie Avenue following a report of an assault.

When officers arrived, they discovered a male victim who had suffered minor lacerations during an altercation that had occurred shortly before police were called.

The injured man was transported to a local hospital for treatment. His injuries were described as minor, and additional information about his condition was not immediately available.

As investigators worked to determine what happened, they learned that the victim had allegedly been cut by a known male subject during the altercation.

Investigators subsequently identified Coleman as the subject connected to the incident. Police located him Friday, August 14, leading to his arrest and transportation to Metro Jail.

The circumstances surrounding the altercation, including what led to the confrontation and the events immediately preceding the alleged assault, remain part of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities have not released additional details regarding a possible motive or whether the individuals involved knew one another beyond the information that the suspect was known to the victim.

BuzzReport will continue to monitor the investigation and provide updates as additional information is released.
