Baldwin County Man Charged with Murder After Fatal Stabbing in Bay Minette

BAY MINETTE, AL (BuzzReport)— A quick investigation by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office has resulted in the arrest of a Bay Minette man following the fatal stabbing of a 56-year-old victim Monday afternoon.

According to investigators, on Monday, August 3, 2026, at approximately 1:55 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a possible shooting at a residence on Wash Branch Road in Bay Minette.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they discovered 56-year-old Terry Barnes lying deceased in the yard of the residence. Although the initial report indicated a possible shooting, investigators later determined that Barnes had died from multiple stab wounds.

The Sheriff’s Office immediately launched a homicide investigation, with detectives and crime scene investigators working to process evidence and determine what led to the deadly encounter.

Authorities say the investigation quickly led detectives to identify 55-year-old Lee Snider as the primary suspect in the killing.

Deputies assigned to the Uniformed Services Division located Snider’s vehicle a short time later and conducted a traffic stop, taking him into custody without incident. Investigators also seized the vehicle as evidence, and it will undergo further forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation.

Snider has been formally charged with Murder and was transported to the Baldwin County Corrections Center, where he remains incarcerated pending further court proceedings.

Investigators have not released details regarding a possible motive or the events that led to the fatal stabbing. Authorities also have not indicated whether the victim and suspect knew one another.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation remains active and ongoing as detectives continue gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing all available information related to the case.
