Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A stolen firearm, stolen vehicle keys, and a series of vehicle break-ins across Mobile and surrounding areas have led to the arrests of two young men and two juvenile suspects, according to law enforcement.

The investigation began after officers responded Tuesday, July 7, to a reported vehicle burglary in the 3700 block of Amruth Drive. Investigators say a firearm and a set of keys were stolen from a vehicle during the break-in, prompting an intensive investigation to identify those responsible.

That investigation quickly gained momentum.

Around 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, officers located a suspect vehicle traveling near Robin Hood Drive and Lewis Avenue. Officers conducted a traffic stop, taking three occupants into custody without incident.

Police identified the suspects as 20-year-old Mason Capeless, 19-year-old Braxton Wilson, and a juvenile male.

As detectives continued investigating, they determined the suspects were allegedly connected to multiple vehicle burglaries that occurred throughout the city of Mobile and Mobile County earlier this month. Authorities also identified a second juvenile male who was allegedly involved in the string of crimes.

Capeless and Wilson were arrested and transported to Metro Jail, where they are facing charges related to the investigation. The two juvenile suspects were taken to the Strickland Youth Center.

The recovery of a stolen firearm remains a major focus for investigators, as stolen guns taken during vehicle burglaries often pose an increased risk to public safety if they end up in the hands of criminals.

Law enforcement continues to urge residents to help prevent vehicle burglaries by removing firearms, valuables, and keys from unattended vehicles and ensuring doors are locked, even when parked at home.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges or arrests could be possible as detectives continue reviewing evidence connected to the recent string of vehicle break-ins.
