ADAMS COUNTY, MS (BuzzReport) — Investigators have made an arrest in connection with a deadly double shooting outside an Adams County nightclub that claimed the lives of two men and injured a third person during the early morning hours of the Fourth of July. The Adams County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 21-year-old Jaquavious Norman of Roxie, who now faces one count of murder and one count of aggravated assault following the violence at JROC, located at 339 Lower Woodville Road. Deputies were dispatched to the nightclub at approximately 5:44 a.m. on Saturday, July 4, after receiving reports of multiple shots fired. According to investigators, surveillance video and evidence collected during the investigation revealed that the violence began with a verbal altercation over an illegal dice game inside the club involving Michael Minor Jr. and Randolph Hannon. Authorities say Minor briefly walked away from the confrontation before returning and asking Hannon to step outside. As Hannon exited the club, investigators allege that Minor pulled out a handgun and opened fire, striking Hannon multiple times. Hannon collapsed in the doorway of the nightclub and died from his injuries. Moments later, as Minor attempted to flee the scene, investigators say Jaquavious Norman opened fire from behind the building, shooting through an exterior wall of the nightclub. Minor was struck by the gunfire and collapsed outside the front entrance, where he died. A third victim, an adult woman, was grazed by a bullet during the exchange. She was transported by private vehicle to Merit Health for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Based on the investigation, Norman has been charged with murder in connection with the death of Michael Minor Jr. and aggravated assault for the injury to the female victim. However, authorities emphasized that the investigation into Randolph Hannon’s death remains active. Detectives continue to work closely with the Adams County District Attorney’s Office to determine whether additional criminal charges will be filed against anyone involved in the shooting. Norman was taken into custody without incident in Franklin County, with assistance from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, and has since been returned to Adams County to face the charges. The Sheriff’s Office says investigators are continuing to interview witnesses, review surveillance footage, and process evidence as they work to determine the full sequence of events surrounding the deadly confrontation. Officials are urging anyone who may have additional information about the shooting to contact the Adams County Sheriff’s Office as the investigation remains ongoing.
