JACKSON, MS (BuzzReport) — A Jackson man accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting his young daughter over a period of approximately two years is being held on an $8 million bond after making his initial court appearance Thursday.

Tony Champion appeared before Jackson Municipal Court Judge Jeffrey Reynolds, where he was formally charged with multiple felony offenses stemming from an investigation into allegations of prolonged sexual abuse involving his daughter.

According to court proceedings, Champion faces several serious charges, including gratification of lust, enticement of a child, and additional charges related to grooming and luring a child to his apartment for sexual abuse.

During the hearing, Judge Reynolds described the allegations as “extremely disturbing” before setting Champion’s bond at $2 million for each of the four felony charges, totaling $8 million.

In addition to the high bond, the judge issued a strict no-contact order designed to protect the alleged victim.

“You are to have no contact with your daughter,” Reynolds told Champion in court. “Act like she doesn’t exist.”

Cases involving the sexual exploitation of children are among the most aggressively prosecuted offenses under Mississippi law, carrying the possibility of lengthy prison sentences if a defendant is convicted.

Authorities have not publicly released additional details about the investigation or disclosed how the alleged abuse came to light. Officials also have not released the age of the child in order to protect the victim’s identity.

The case remains under investigation, and prosecutors are expected to present additional evidence as the judicial process moves forward.
