MOBILE, Ala. (BuzzReport)— A shooting investigation is underway after a man who had been grazed by gunfire drove himself to a west Mobile restaurant seeking medical assistance late Sunday.

According to police, officers responded to the Whataburger located at 2496 Schillinger Road South after receiving reports that a male victim had arrived in a personal vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim reportedly stopped at the restaurant and requested emergency medical help.

Investigators determined that the shooting did not occur at the restaurant. Instead, the incident took place earlier in the 8100 block of Huber Road, where the victim was grazed by gunfire under circumstances that remain under investigation.

Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to a local hospital. Authorities said the injuries were non-life-threatening, and the victim is expected to recover.

The shooting prompted detectives to begin processing evidence and interviewing witnesses as they work to determine what led to the gunfire and identify any suspects involved. At this stage, police have not released information regarding a possible motive, whether the victim was specifically targeted, or if any arrests have been made.

Officials emphasized that the investigation remains active, and additional details will be released as they become available.

Anyone with information about the shooting in the 8100 block of Huber Road is encouraged to contact the Mobile Police Department or submit anonymous tips through local Crime Stoppers.
