MOBILE, Ala. (BuzzReport News) — A tragic two-vehicle crash in Mobile late Saturday night has left one man dead and at least one other person injured, according to the Mobile Police Department. The deadly collision occurred just before midnight at the intersection of Schillinger Road and Cottage Hill Road, one of the city’s busiest and most heavily traveled intersections. Authorities say the crash involved a truck and a passenger vehicle. Emergency responders rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the serious wreck and discovered extensive damage to both vehicles. Upon arrival, first responders pronounced a man inside the passenger vehicle dead at the scene. Police said another occupant was also inside the car at the time of the crash. The extent of that individual’s injuries and current condition have not yet been released. The driver of the truck was treated by medical personnel at the scene. Officials have not disclosed the severity of the driver’s injuries. Investigators remained on scene for several hours overnight, gathering evidence and working to determine what factors may have contributed to the fatal collision. Traffic in the area was impacted as authorities conducted their investigation. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released pending notification of family members. Mobile Police say the investigation remains active, and additional details are expected to be released as investigators continue examining the circumstances surrounding the crash.
