CRESTVIEW, Fla. (BuzzReport) — Authorities in Okaloosa County have launched an active death investigation after human remains were discovered Friday evening in Crestview, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding the case.

According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to an area near Stillwell Boulevard after individuals reported finding what appeared to be human remains. Law enforcement officers quickly secured the scene and began an investigation.

Officials have not released the identity of the deceased, nor have they disclosed how long the remains may have been at the location. Investigators have also not provided any information regarding the cause or manner of death as they work to determine exactly what happened.

The discovery has prompted a significant investigative effort as authorities seek answers and gather evidence from the scene. Detectives are expected to work closely with forensic specialists and the medical examiner’s office as the investigation progresses.

At this time, the sheriff’s office says no additional details are available. Authorities are urging anyone with information that could assist investigators to come forward.
