Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A deadly shooting in the early morning hours Monday has left one man dead and four others injured, according to the Mobile Police Department.

Police say officers responded at approximately 1:57 a.m. on May 18, 2026, to the 1100 block of O’Donnell Street after receiving reports of gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim lying outside of a residence suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.

Authorities later identified the deceased as 20-year-old Daniel Franklin.

During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that four additional victims — three women and one man — had arrived at local hospitals shortly before officers reached the scene. Police confirmed that all four individuals suffered non-life-threatening gunshot injuries.

Investigators remained on scene for several hours Monday morning as crime scene personnel collected evidence and interviewed potential witnesses. The circumstances leading up to the shooting have not yet been disclosed, and investigators have not announced any arrests or identified any suspects.

The shooting has left residents in the neighborhood shaken as police continue working to determine what sparked the violence.

Officials stated the investigation remains active and ongoing. No additional information has been released at this time.
