Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A shoplifting incident at a busy Mobile retail location led to the arrest of an adult woman and the detention of a juvenile Friday afternoon, authorities confirmed. According to the Mobile Police Department, officers responded at approximately 2:30 p.m. on April 24, 2026, to the Walmart in reference to a reported theft. Upon arrival, officers determined that a 31-year-old woman, identified as Patricia Hayward, along with a juvenile female, had been observed inside the store concealing merchandise. Investigators say the pair then exited the store, bypassing all points of sale without paying for the items. Hayward was taken into custody at the scene and transported to Metro Jail, where she faces theft-related charges. The juvenile involved in the incident was released to family members in accordance with standard procedures. The value of the stolen merchandise has not been disclosed, and it is unclear if additional charges may be forthcoming. Retail theft continues to be a concern for businesses across Mobile, with law enforcement emphasizing increased vigilance and coordination with store security to address ongoing incidents.
