Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A new chapter is underway at Murphy High School, and it’s one fueled by pride, passion, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. The Panthers have officially named Jairus Jackson Jr. as the new Head Boys Basketball Coach — a move that signals not just a hire, but a powerful statement about the future of the program. Coach Jackson arrives with a résumé rooted in success and a reputation built on leadership, discipline, and winning culture. A product of the Mobile County Public School System, Jackson’s journey comes full circle as he returns home to inspire the next generation. He first made his mark at LeFlore High School, where he led as starting point guard on the 2002 State Championship team, setting the tone for a career defined by excellence. His playing career continued at Jefferson Davis Community College and Shorter College in Rome, Georgia — experiences that sharpened his understanding of the game and prepared him for a dynamic coaching career. Since stepping onto the sidelines in 2009 as an assistant coach at LeFlore under Coach Otis Hughley, Jackson has steadily built a legacy. His time at Blount High School saw multiple deep playoff runs, including two Final Four appearances. As Head Coach, he continued to elevate programs, most notably at Vigor High School, where he led his team to two Final Four appearances and a State Championship Runner-Up finish in 2024. His excellence has been recognized with multiple Coach of the Year honors — a testament to his impact both on and off the court. But beyond the wins and accolades, Coach Jackson is a builder of young men — a mentor dedicated to shaping character, accountability, and resilience. Supported by his wife, Tiffany, and their four children — Jairus Jr., Aiden, Ariyana, and Taylor — he brings not just experience, but heart and family values to Panther Nation. The excitement is already building. A parent-player meeting is scheduled for April 27, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the school auditorium, where returning players and prospective athletes will have the opportunity to meet Coach Jackson and hear his vision firsthand. Murphy High isn’t just welcoming a coach — it’s embracing a leader with a championship mindset and a mission to restore dominance.
