FAIRHOPE, Ala. — A heavy law enforcement presence in a Fairhope neighborhood has been confirmed as part of an ongoing investigation after authorities discovered a submerged vehicle with a body inside a local pond.

According to the Fairhope Police Department, officers were called to the area of Falling Waters Boulevard, located off State Highway 181 just north of Highway 104, following a missing person report filed on Sunday involving a resident from the nearby community.

As officers conducted follow-up investigative work later that evening, they developed evidence indicating a vehicle may have been submerged in a pond within the neighborhood. An underwater recovery team was immediately deployed to the scene.

Authorities have since confirmed the presence of a vehicle beneath the water’s surface, along with at least one occupant inside. Officials have not yet released the identity of the individual, pending further investigation and notification of next of kin.

The circumstances surrounding how the vehicle entered the pond remain unclear. Investigators have not stated whether foul play is suspected at this time.

Residents in the area may continue to notice a significant police and emergency response presence as crews work to recover the vehicle and process the scene. Officials are urging the public to remain patient and respectful, noting the sensitive nature of the incident.

The investigation remains active, and additional details are expected to be released as they become available.
