BILOXI, Miss. (BuzzReport) — A 47-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with a significant theft case involving a local Biloxi business, authorities confirmed.

Gladys Renee Herrington is charged with embezzlement. Officials said she was an employee and was responsible for handling and depositing money for the business, which is located in the 200 block of Eisenhower Drive.

According to the Biloxi Police Department, the woman is accused of stealing nearly $15,000 from the business over an undisclosed period of time. Investigators say the alleged theft was uncovered following an internal review, prompting a formal investigation.

Police have not released specific details about how the money was taken or the exact nature of the suspect’s relationship to the business. However, officials confirmed that sufficient evidence was gathered to support criminal charges.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident and is currently facing charges related to theft. Authorities have not yet indicated whether additional charges could be filed as the investigation continues.
