CRESTVIEW, Fla. (BuzzReport)— A 22-year-old man is in custody following a multi-county pursuit that began with a reported vehicle theft in Duval County and ended in a crash in Crestview, according to authorities.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were notified that a vehicle reported stolen out of Jacksonville was traveling toward Walton County. Deputies later located the vehicle near the Mossy Head exit and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.

Officials said the driver refused to stop and fled, prompting a pursuit that continued into neighboring Okaloosa County. The chase came to an end when the suspect crashed the vehicle into a fence along Brookmeade Drive.

The driver, identified as Isaac Jay Schlabach, was taken into custody at the scene. He is charged with grand theft and fleeing and eluding law enforcement.

Schlabach was transported to the Okaloosa County Jail, where he remains in custody, according to law enforcement officials. The incident remains under investigation.
