Mobile, AL (BuzzReport)- A routine traffic stop escalated into a short vehicle pursuit and foot chase Tuesday afternoon, ending with the arrest of a 30-year-old man, according to authorities. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop at approximately 3:12 p.m. near the intersection of Houston Street and Virginia Street. Police say the driver refused to comply and fled the scene, prompting officers to pursue the vehicle. The pursuit continued for several blocks before coming to an abrupt end in the 600 block of Williams Street, where the driver crashed his vehicle. Following the collision, the suspect exited the vehicle and attempted to evade officers on foot. Law enforcement quickly established a perimeter and located the individual nearby within a short period of time. The suspect, identified as Mason Marzette, 30, was taken into custody without further incident. Marzette was transported to Metro Jail. Authorities have not yet released details regarding potential charges or whether any injuries occurred as a result of the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
