MCINTOSH, Ala. (BuzzReport) — Multiple emergency agencies responded to a significant woods fire in the McIntosh area on Sunday afternoon, as flames spread through a large wooded region and continued burning for several hours. The fire occurred along Rob Drive, where crews worked extensively to contain the blaze. While much of the fire has been brought under control, officials report that hot spots remain, and several sections of the wooded area have been completely burned. The McIntosh Volunteer Fire Department shared video footage of the fire on social media, showing intense flames moving through dense woods as firefighters from multiple departments coordinated efforts to stop its spread. Due to the fire’s location deep within the wooded terrain, the Alabama Forestry Commission was called in to assist with suppression efforts. Their involvement helped address areas that were difficult for local crews to access. Residents in the area also took precautionary measures as the fire approached nearby properties. Some neighbors used hoses and other resources in an effort to protect structures from potential damage while firefighters worked to gain control of the situation. Authorities have not yet released an estimate of how many acres were affected, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries have been reported, and emergency crews continue to monitor the area to ensure remaining hot spots do not reignite.
