GEORGE COUNTY, Miss. (BuzzReport)— Authorities have recovered multiple stolen electric scooters believed to have been taken from a college campus, following a coordinated investigation between local and university law enforcement agencies. The George County Sheriff’s Office, working alongside the University of South Alabama Police Department, located and recovered four stolen scooters on March 31, 2026, in the area of Boots Walters Road. Officials said the scooters had previously been reported stolen from the University of South Alabama campus in Mobile, Alabama. According to investigators, the recovered scooters are valued between $200 and $900 each. The discovery was made as part of a joint effort aimed at tracking down stolen property and identifying those responsible for the thefts. At this time, no arrests have been made, and authorities say the investigation remains ongoing as they work to determine how the scooters were transported off campus and into George County, as well as who may be connected to the case. George County Sheriff Mitchell Mixon praised the collaboration between agencies, emphasizing the importance of interagency cooperation in solving crimes that cross jurisdictional lines. “This case highlights the importance of strong partnerships between law enforcement agencies,” Mixon said in a statement. “By working together with the University of South Alabama Police Department, we were able to successfully recover stolen property and continue moving this investigation forward. We appreciate their cooperation and dedication to public safety.” Officials have not released additional details about potential suspects or whether more stolen property may be recovered. Authorities say further information will be made public as the investigation develops. Anyone with information related to the case is encouraged to contact the George County Sheriff’s Office or the University of South Alabama Police Department.
