Foley, AL (BuzzReport) — A Baldwin County Grand Jury has indicted two individuals in connection with the death of an infant and the abuse of a second child, authorities confirmed. Tocora Monaye Brown, 22, and Larry Cordero Lawson, 30, were each indicted on two counts of felony aggravated child abuse following an extensive investigation by local law enforcement. The case stems from a November 2023 incident in Foley, when officers and detectives with the Foley Police Departmentresponded to a report at Baldwin Health regarding the death of a 10-month-old child. Medical personnel determined the infant died from a head injury and also identified signs consistent with a prior head injury. As the investigation progressed, authorities uncovered troubling living conditions involving the children. Investigators determined that the deceased infant and her sibling had been residing in a storage room at a local retail business. During the response, the surviving child—a young boy—was found suffering from severe burns and evidence of a previous head injury. The child was immediately removed from the environment and placed into protective custody with the Alabama Department of Human Resources, where he remains under supervision. Officials said Brown, the children’s mother, was employed at the business where the children were reportedly living, while Lawson owned the establishment. Both suspects were taken into custody earlier this week by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Unit. They are currently being held in the Baldwin County Jail as the case moves forward through the court system. Authorities have not released additional details as the investigation and prosecution continue.
