JONES COUNTY, MS (BuzzReport) – A 19-year-old man wanted on a capital murder warrant out of Hinds County was taken into custody Sunday night following a two-vehicle crash in Jones County, according to authorities.

Deputies with the Jones County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash at the intersection of Moselle Seminary Road and U.S. Highway 11 just before 8:30 p.m. on March 29, 2026. While investigating the collision, officials identified one of the individuals involved as Zachary Stevens.

During the course of the investigation, deputies discovered that Stevens was listed in the FBI’s National Crime Information Center database as a wanted individual by the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities confirmed that Stevens was wanted on a capital murder warrant.

Court records indicate that a bench warrant had been issued for Stevens in December 2025 after he failed to appear in court. Stevens had previously been arrested in June 2023 in connection with the death of a three-month-old child, a case that ultimately led to the capital murder charge.

Following confirmation of the warrant, Stevens was taken into custody at the scene without further incident. Details regarding injuries from the crash, if any, have not been released.

Stevens is currently being held at the Jones County Adult Detention Facility as he awaits extradition back to Hinds County, where he will face charges related to the ongoing case.

Authorities have not released additional details about the investigation, and the case remains active.
