Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A Mobile man is in custody following an early morning home invasion and robbery that turned violent Tuesday, according to police.

Officers with the Mobile Police Department responded at approximately 7:00 a.m. on March 24, 2026, to the 900 block of Alba Street after receiving reports of a robbery in progress.

When officers arrived on scene, they made contact with the victim, who reported that a known adult male suspect had come to his residence and forcibly entered by kicking in the door. Authorities say the suspect did not have permission to enter the home.

According to investigators, once inside, the suspect produced a hand knife and engaged in a physical altercation with the victim. The confrontation escalated quickly, creating a dangerous and volatile situation inside the residence.

Police said the suspect ultimately fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of the victim’s property. Despite the violence of the encounter, the victim was able to contact law enforcement shortly after the suspect left.

Responding officers quickly located and detained the suspect in the surrounding area without further incident. No additional injuries were reported at the time of the arrest.

The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Devin Carl, was taken into custody and transported to Mobile Metro Jail. Officials have not yet released details regarding formal charges or whether additional charges may be pending as the investigation continues.

Authorities have not disclosed the condition of the victim but indicated the investigation remains ongoing. Police are continuing to gather evidence and review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
