Theodore, Ala. (BuzzReport) — A Theodore mother is now in custody facing serious charges in connection with the death of her young child, following a months-long investigation by the Mobile Police Department. Authorities confirmed that Amanda Marie Morgan was booked into custody Monday morning on charges of felony murder and aggravated child abuse. Investigation Began in October The investigation was initiated on October 8, 2025, when officers with the Mobile Police Department responded to a trailer park located on Sperry Road in Theodore. Upon arrival, officers discovered a young boy deceased at the scene. According to investigators, there were visible signs of neglect, prompting an in-depth investigation. Police later confirmed that the child was Morgan’s son. Case Reviewed by District Attorney After completing its initial investigation, the Mobile Police Department submitted the case to the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office for further review. Officials with the District Attorney’s Office stated that charges were not immediately filed, as investigators awaited the results of an autopsy and toxicology report. Once those findings were finalized, prosecutors determined there was sufficient evidence to move forward with criminal charges against Morgan. Court Proceedings Pending Morgan is scheduled to appear in court for a bond hearing on Wednesday. Authorities say additional details surrounding the circumstances of the child’s death may be released following that hearing. The investigation remains ongoing.
