Atmore, AL (BuzzReport) – Authorities with the Atmore Police Department have announced another arrest connected to a shooting that occurred earlier this year in Atmore.
According to police, investigators continued to examine evidence related to the January 19, 2026 shooting incident, which led to additional charges being filed against a suspect.
Officials confirmed that Jovaughntai Henderson, 19, of Atmore, was taken into custody in connection with the case. Henderson faces several felony charges, including:
- Attempted Murder
- Discharging a Firearm into an Unoccupied Building (four counts)
- Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Building or Vehicle
Police said Henderson turned himself in at the Atmore Police Department headquarters without incident after the charges were issued.
Investigators also released photographs that allegedly show Henderson wearing blue clothing and holding what appears to be a pistol-style rifle-caliber firearm on the night of the incident, shortly before the shooting occurred.
Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting or whether anyone was injured during the incident.
The investigation remains active, and officials say additional arrests could be forthcoming as detectives continue to review evidence and pursue leads.
The Atmore Police Department reminded the public that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
