Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A 21-year-old man was arrested Saturday afternoon after officers responded to reports of a disorderly individual in a West Mobile parking lot, according to the Mobile Police Department.
Authorities said officers were dispatched around 12:40 p.m. on March 14, 2026, to the parking lot of a business located at 790 Schillinger Road South after receiving a report about a disruptive subject.
When officers arrived, they located a male sitting in a vehicle who appeared to be visibly impaired, police said. During the investigation, officers learned the man had exited his vehicle moments earlier and approached a nearby woman’s vehicle, where he allegedly made sexual gestures toward the female driver while in an impaired state.
Police said the suspect had returned to his vehicle by the time officers arrived on the scene. However, authorities reported that he initially refused to cooperate with officers during the encounter.
The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Caleb Rich, was taken into custody without incident and transported to Mobile Metro Jail.
Rich is facing multiple charges, including:
- Public Intoxication
- Failure to Obey a Lawful Order
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Disorderly Conduct
Following the incident, the Mobile Police Department addressed rumors circulating on social media, particularly on Facebook, suggesting the situation involved an attempted kidnapping.
Police said those claims are inaccurate, emphasizing that the investigation found no evidence indicating a kidnapping or attempted abduction occurred.
Officials urged the public to rely on verified information from law enforcement sources rather than unconfirmed reports circulating online.
The family is happy that their love one is with them tonight, and they are out searching for a missing love one.
The investigation remains ongoing.
