Caddo Parish, LA (BuzzReport) — A Caddo Parish jury has found a Shreveport man guilty of violently attacking and robbing a 91-year-old widow in her home, a crime that left the elderly victim critically injured and bound inside a closet.

Jurors deliberated for nearly two hours on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, before unanimously convicting 24-year-old Kendrell Quinte Thomas of home invasion and cruelty to persons with infirmities. The verdict was delivered in the courtroom of District Judge John D. Mosely Jr.

Prosecutors said Thomas forced his way into the victim’s Southern Hills home in the early hours of July 2, 2025. During the attack, the elderly woman told investigators she was knocked to the ground and dragged by her feet from room to room while the intruder searched for money and jewelry.

According to testimony, the victim was repeatedly struck in the head before Thomas bound her with wire and rope and placed her inside a closet. Concerned relatives later discovered the woman and contacted authorities.

Investigators were able to build their case using surveillance footage from nearby homes and a bank transaction connected to the crime. Authorities said one of the victim’s stolen checks was later cashed, leading detectives to identify Thomas as the suspect.

When officers arrested Thomas at his residence, they reportedly recovered $1,800 in cash, items belonging to the victim, clothing that matched what was seen in surveillance footage, the backpack believed to have been used during the crime, and a ski mask.

Thomas is scheduled to be sentenced on March 18, 2026. He faces a minimum of one year and up to 30 years at hard labor without probation, parole, or suspension of sentence for the home invasion conviction, as well as one to 10 years for the cruelty to persons with infirmities charge.

Authorities said the case highlights the severe consequences for crimes targeting vulnerable victims.
