Okaloosa County, FL (BuzzReport) — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Tuesday morning in north Okaloosa County.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office confirmed it is actively working the homicide after deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call shortly before 6 a.m. The caller reported a man lying in the roadway on Taylor Road, off Lake Silver Road, just north of Crestview.

When deputies arrived on scene, they discovered a 20-year-old man deceased in the roadway. Authorities said the victim was a resident of Mary Esther. His name has not yet been publicly released pending notification of next of kin.

Investigators located multiple shell casings near the victim’s body. The area was secured and meticulously processed for evidence as crime scene technicians worked to gather forensic material and document the scene.

At this time, no suspect information has been released, and officials have not indicated a possible motive. The Sheriff’s Office described the investigation as active and ongoing.
