Fairhope, AL (BuzzReport) — A 31-year-old Fairhope man is facing several felony and misdemeanor domestic violence charges after authorities say he strangled, beat, and shot a woman with a BB gun during a violent incident on March 1, 2026.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Baldwin County District Court, Israel Jafar Williams has been charged with domestic violence by strangulation or suffocation, domestic violence second-degree assault, and domestic violence third-degree menacing.
Court documents allege that during an argument, Williams placed his hands around the victim’s neck and choked her to the point she was unable to breathe. The complaint further states that Williams struck the woman repeatedly in the face and body with both his fists and open hands, and kicked her while she was on the ground.
In addition, investigators allege Williams shot the victim four times with metal BBs from a BB gun. The complaint indicates the woman may have sustained serious injuries, including a possible broken wrist and broken jaw, along with numerous contusions and abrasions across her body.
The menacing charge stems from allegations that Williams pointed a rifle at the victim and threatened her, placing her in fear of imminent serious physical injury.
Records show the victim has since filed a petition for a protection-from-abuse order against Williams in Baldwin County.
As of this report, bond information and a court date have not been released. The case remains pending.
