Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A shooting at a Dauphin Street restaurant late Thursday night left one man hospitalized with serious injuries and another in custody, according to police. On Thursday, February 26, 2026, at approximately 9:53 p.m., officers with the Mobile Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at Subway – 3067 Dauphin Street. When officers arrived, they found an adult male victim suffering from multiple, severe gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was receiving medical treatment at the time of the report. His condition has not been released. Police said the suspected shooter remained on scene and was detained without further incident. Investigators later determined that the victim and the suspect had been involved in a verbal altercation that escalated into a physical confrontation before shots were fired. The suspect was identified as Markeas Bernard, 31. Bernard was transported to the Mobile Metro Jail. Formal charges were not immediately announced. The investigation remains ongoing.
