Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A routine patrol turned into a brief foot chase Thursday evening after a driver attempted to flee officers during a traffic stop, authorities said. On February 26, 2026, at approximately 7:10 p.m., officers with the Mobile Police Department were patrolling near the intersection of St. Stephens Road and Rylands Street when they observed a vehicle commit a traffic infraction. According to police, as officers initiated the stop, the vehicle pulled over but the driver exited and ran on foot. Officers pursued and detained the individual a short distance away without further incident. During the subsequent investigation, officers reported discovering multiple bags containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana inside the vehicle. The suspect was identified as Peter Nobles, 40. He was transported to the Mobile Metro Jail. Authorities have not released additional details regarding formal charges. The investigation remains ongoing.
