Pascagoula, Miss. (BuzzReport) — A Mobile County man is in federal custody following a multi-county pursuit that began in Mississippi and ended in Alabama, according to authorities. Investigators with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said Letonyeo Watson is being held on federal drug charges at the request of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The incident began early Friday morning when deputies with the county’s drug interdiction unit attempted to stop Watson on Interstate 10 eastbound. Authorities said Watson fled, prompting a pursuit through Jackson County. As the chase approached the Pascagoula River Bridge, investigators reported that Watson threw several objects from the vehicle into the river below. The pursuit continued across state lines and ended in Mobile County, where Watson was taken into custody without further incident. Deputies spent several hours searching the waters beneath the interstate in an effort to recover the discarded items. Officials have not disclosed what was thrown from the vehicle or whether the items have been fully recovered. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional details are expected to be released as federal charges proceed.
