Gulfport, MS (BuzzReport) — A violent confrontation between teenagers erupted into gunfire late Thursday night, leaving a 14-year-old boy wounded and a 17-year-old suspect behind bars, according to the Gulfport Police Department.

Police say officers responded around 9:13 p.m. on February 13, 2026, to reports of a shooting near the intersection of 28th Street and Hudson Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a 14-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was rushed to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

Following an investigation, authorities arrested 17-year-old Marrion Greer of Gulfport and charged him with one count of aggravated assault. Investigators determined the shooting stemmed from a planned meeting between individuals who intended to fight over a female, a dispute that escalated into violence.

Greer was processed and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center, where he remains in custody on a $250,000 bond.

The Gulfport Police Department continues to investigate the incident and is asking anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be reported directly to police at 228-868-5959 or anonymously through Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers at 877-787-5898.
