Prichard, AL (BuzzReport) — The streets of Prichard were packed with energy, color, and tradition Saturday as thousands gathered to celebrate Mardi Gras in one of the city’s most anticipated annual events. An estimate of more than 30,000 people lined the streets to take part in the Goat Man Parade, the Prichard Parade, and the Eight Mile Association Parade. The back-to-back festivities transformed Prichard into a lively showcase of culture and community pride. Families filled sidewalks and parking lots as parade floats rolled by, showering the crowd with throws amid cheers, laughter, and excitement. Music echoed through the streets while food vendors, tailgating setups, and spontaneous dancing created a festive atmosphere that lasted throughout the day. “These parades always bring out a huge crowd and create a family-friendly environment for everyone to enjoy,” organizers said, noting that Mardi Gras remains a cornerstone tradition for the city. “It’s just fun, and being together and up close brings a different type of feeling for Mardi Gras in Prichard,” said Erica Maye, who travels to the city each year to take part in the celebration. “We just love it. My family gets together every year and we celebrate the tradition in Prichard.” As the final floats passed and the music faded, residents and visitors alike agreed the 2026 Mardi Gras celebration once again highlighted Prichard’s strong sense of tradition, togetherness, and unmistakable Mardi Gras spirit.
