Bullock County, Ala. (BuzzReport) — A chaplain volunteer at Bullock Correctional Facility was arrested Wednesday after correctional officers discovered contraband during an investigation, according to the Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC). ADOC officials said that on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026, the agency’s K-9 unit assigned to Bullock Correctional Facility was alerted to suspected contraband involving Andrew Turner, a chaplain volunteer and former inmate. Following the alert, the K-9 team conducted a search of Turner’s vehicle. During the search, authorities discovered an illegal handgun and marijuana, ADOC officials reported. Turner was detained at the facility and interviewed by ADOC agents before being taken into custody. He was later transported to the Bullock County Jail, where he was charged with second-degree possession of marijuana and being a certain person forbidden to possess a firearm. ADOC officials stated that the investigation remains ongoing and that additional charges may be filed as the case develops. No further details were released at this time.
