Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A Tuesday evening gathering at a west Mobile apartment complex turned into a scene of chaos and fear after gunfire erupted, prompting a swift police response and the arrest of a 73-year-old man on multiple serious charges.

According to authorities, officers were dispatched at approximately 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, to the Linx Apartments, located at 6964 Airport Boulevard, following reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they discovered clear evidence of gunfire—an apartment unit had been struck by multiple rounds.

Investigators determined that a man known to the female victim arrived at her apartment while she was sitting outside with other individuals. Without warning, the suspect allegedly produced a handgun and began firing in the direction of the apartment, placing multiple people in immediate danger.

The suspect, identified as Willie Dixon, 73, was detained at the scene without further incident. A detective responded to conduct a follow-up investigation, documenting damage and collecting evidence related to the shooting.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, though authorities emphasized that the situation could have easily resulted in tragedy.

Dixon was transported to Metro Jail, where he now faces a series of serious charges, including Reckless EndangermentDomestic Violence Third Degree–Reckless Endangerment, and two counts of Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling.

Police have not released further details but confirmed the investigation remains active.
