Theodore, Ala. (BuzzReport) — A tragic head-on collision on Old Pascagoula Road claimed the lives of two adults and left two children injured Friday afternoon, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

The crash occurred at approximately 1:20 p.m. on Jan. 2, about three miles west of the Mobile city limits in Mobile County. Authorities say a 2011 Toyota RAV4, driven by Mary McKee Vise, 71, of Citronelle, collided head-on with a 2011 Kia Forte driven by Clifford Wayne Stokes, 51, of Theodore.

Both Vise and Stokes sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two 10-year-old juveniles who were passengers in the RAV4 were injured in the crash and transported to a local hospital for treatment. Their current conditions have not been released.

The roadway was temporarily closed as troopers worked the scene and conducted an investigation. ALEA has not yet released additional details regarding the cause of the crash.

The incident has left the Citronelle and Theodore communities mourning the sudden loss of life, while authorities continue to urge drivers to remain vigilant and exercise caution on rural roadways.

The investigation remains ongoing.
