Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A quiet Mobile neighborhood was jolted awake early Tuesday morning when a residential fire erupted on McKinley Avenue, drawing a rapid response from Mobile Fire-Rescue crews.

At approximately 2:06 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to the 7600 block of McKinley Avenue following reports of a house engulfed in flames. When crews arrived, they found a single-story residence fully involved, with fire consuming the structure.

Firefighters moved swiftly to contain and extinguish the blaze, working in the darkness to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby homes. The fire was brought under control without further incident.

No additional details regarding injuries or occupants were immediately released. Officials say the cause of the fire remains under investigation, and fire investigators are working to determine how the blaze started.

Residents in the area watched as flashing lights illuminated the street and smoke filled the night air, a stark reminder of how quickly fire can turn dangerous.

The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department encourages residents to ensure smoke alarms are working properly and to have a fire escape plan in place.
