Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — Thousands gathered in downtown Mobile on Wednesday night, December 31, 2025, to bid farewell to the year and welcome 2026 during the city’s beloved MoonPie Over Mobile celebration—an evening marked by festive cheer, community spirit, and a strong sense of safety.

City officials confirmed that the event concluded without any major incidents, a welcome outcome as large crowds filled the streets for one of Mobile’s most anticipated annual traditions. An estimated 6,000 residents and visitorsattended the nighttime festivities alone, a figure that does not include the additional crowds drawn by events held earlier in the day.

Enhanced security measures were implemented throughout the downtown area, including increased law enforcement presence and coordinated public safety planning. Officials credited these proactive steps with helping ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for attendees of all ages.

Families, friends, and visitors packed the streets as music, entertainment, and the iconic MoonPie drop created a celebratory atmosphere that has become a signature of New Year’s Eve in Mobile. The successful event highlighted not only the city’s ability to host large-scale celebrations but also the cooperation between organizers, public safety teams, and the community.

As Mobile officially closed out 2025, city leaders expressed gratitude to attendees, first responders, and staff whose efforts contributed to a safe and memorable night. With another successful MoonPie Over Mobile in the books, the city now looks ahead to 2026 with momentum—and plenty of hometown pride.
