Mobile, AL (BuzzReport) — A late-night shooting sent police rushing to a Mobile neighborhood just before the new year, leaving one man injured and an investigation underway.

According to authorities, officers responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 10:55 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, in the 2600 block of First Avenue. When officers arrived on the scene, they found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police confirmed the injury was minor and not life-threatening, and the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. His current condition has not been released.

Investigators have not disclosed what led up to the shooting, nor whether any suspects have been identified. The area was temporarily secured as officers gathered evidence and spoke with potential witnesses.

The Mobile Police Department stated that the case remains an active investigation, and no additional details are available at this time.
