NEW ORLEANS (BuzzReport) — Gunfire erupted in two separate New Orleans neighborhoods Thursday afternoon, leaving three men wounded in unrelated shootings, according to police.

The most serious incident unfolded in the Lower Ninth Ward, where officers believe a gun battle broke out near the levee. Two men later arrived at a hospital in a private vehicle seeking treatment for gunshot wounds. Investigators say the shooting occurred in the 2500 block of Jourdan Avenue, near North Dorgenois Street.

When police reached the scene, they found a burned-out SUV, which became a focal point of the investigation. Authorities have not released the ages or conditions of the two victims, and no arrests have been announced.

Roughly an hour later, another shooting was reported across the river in Algiers. A man was shot in the leg outside a residence in the 1000 block of Casa Calvo Street at approximately 4:57 p.m. Police again withheld details about the victim’s age and condition.

The New Orleans Police Department said both shootings remain under investigation, and detectives are working to determine what led up to the violence. Anyone with information is urged to contact authorities.
