Suspect Arrested After Verbal Dispute Escalates Into Shooting at Mobile Venue

Mobile, Ala. (BuzzReport) — Authorities have identified and arrested a suspect in a late-night shooting that left one man fighting for his life and prompted an ongoing investigation along St. Stephens Road.

According to law enforcement, 39-year-old Jeremy Witherspoon was taken into custody Thursday, December 18, 2025, following a brief foot pursuit conducted by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies located Witherspoon without further incident and transported him to Metro Jail.

Investigators say the arrest follows a verbal altercation between Witherspoon and the victim that escalated into an assault. The victim, whose identity has not been released, remains in critical condition, officials confirmed.
