Gulfport, Miss. (BuzzReport) — A Gulfport man is being held on a high bond following his arrest in connection with a drive-by shooting that investigators say stemmed from a dangerous road rage encounter on a busy city roadway.

The Gulfport Police Department arrested Joshua Immanuel Golden, 34, on December 17, 2025, charging him with one count of drive-by shooting. The arrest followed an investigation into an incident reported the previous evening along Lorraine Road, just north of Seaway Road.

Officers responded to the scene on December 16 at approximately 8:02 p.m. after receiving reports that gunfire had been exchanged between vehicles. Investigators later determined that Golden deliberately positioned his vehicle in front of the victim’s car and began driving erratically, repeatedly braking in front of the vehicle in an apparent attempt to provoke a confrontation.

According to police findings, the victim attempted to pass Golden, but Golden accelerated, overtook the victim again, and continued the pattern of sudden braking. Both vehicles eventually stopped at a red traffic signal, where Golden displayed a firearm.

After the traffic signal changed, both vehicles continued northbound. During that time, Golden fired a shot toward the victim’s vehicle. The bullet did not penetrate the vehicle, and no injuries were reported.

Golden later acknowledged being involved in a confrontation with the victim and told investigators that any discharge of a firearm was an act of self-defense. Police determined the evidence supported a criminal charge, and Golden was taken into custody without incident.

He was transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center, where he remains jailed on a $250,000 bond.

The Gulfport Police Department continues to investigate the case and is asking anyone with information related to the incident to contact investigators or Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers.
